I seek to compose sacred music for the liturgy which is simple, singable, and beautiful; music which reflects the simplicity of Gregorian chant, the beauty of polyphony, and text which reflects the richest parts of our Catholic tradition in a style worthy of the solemnity and dignity of the Mass.
This is a simple chant setting with a drone of the Introit for the Mass of Candidacy to the priesthood, “Ask the Lord of the harvest”. The Glory Be includes simple harmony which can be sung by a TTB, SAB, or equal voice schola.
Written in the style of a Byzantine hymn and Byzantine Chant, this beautiful litany was commissioned by the Cathedral of the Blessed Sacrament in Sacramento for their yearly Chrism Mass. It is scored for SATB choir, cantors and congregation, organ, and brass quartet.
